The Gadget Refuge was launched in 2018 by Gavin & Tracie Garnett with the intention of creating a successful local business with a business model suitable for growth through franchising. Co-Founder Gavin tells their story: “We literally started from the Kitchen table in our house which caused some disagreements until we created a workspace outside of the house! Initially we spread the word through friends and family, particularly friends of our two teenage kids whilst we gained some experience and learned where were the best places to buy spare parts from.“From these early stages until we launched on Social Media in December 2018 it was a steady growth month on month, but then from the day Tracie created the FaceBook page and we started a launch competition we were absolutely inundated. We had enough good reviews within the first few weeks that word just seemed to spread like wildfire and from Jan 2019 onwards we have been constantly kept very busy. This took yet another steep increase at the beginning of Lockdown in March 2020 as pretty much all of our local competition closed their doors as they are mostly retail outlets as opposed to ourselves offering a mobile service (from the beginning). “From the outset we have kept in mind that we needed to be able to easily replicate what we were doing, so every step of the way we have been mindful of ensuring the way we run the business could be transferred to others. Our core activity is repairing mobile phones, but we also repair tablets and laptops and the odd different device including an iRobot hoover!” We are now experiencing unprecedented, and increasing, demand so we are seeking new franchise owners to extend The Gadget Refuge Brand into new territories; creating a fantastic opportunity for those looking to start their own business, with the confidence of a tried and tested business model and successful brand behind them.
